A LAST second penalty from outhalf Johnny Sim gave Scotland victory over Ireland in the Youth's international played at Galway Sportsground on Saturday.

The first half ended 7-3 in Ireland's favour due to a try after eight minutes from second row Darrell O'Kane and a conversion by outhalf Mark Maguire. Scotland's scorer was Sim with a penalty.

Ireland started the second half well and after five minutes Maguire made it 10-3 due to a good penalty. Then the lead was eroded on 49 minutes when Sim broke away for a try to which he added further points with his conversion.

Ireland scored a tremendous try on 51 minutes through centre Shane Horgan which Maguire converted once more to put Ireland 17-10 ahead.
