INTER MILAN, fielding four newly signed foreign stars, needed goals from the Italian "old guard" to defeat Manchester United 3-0 in a friendly at San Siro last night.

Diminutive midfielder Benito Carbone scored the opening goal in the 44th minute with a powerful drive from 25 yards. Centre forward Marco Branca struck twice in the 48th and 64th minute before limping out with a bruised ankle.

Branca had just returned from the United States, following the unexpected elimination of the Italian team in the Olympic tour Inter started newly signed Chilican striker Ivan Zamorano French forward Youri Djorkaefi Dutch midfielder Aron Winter and French defender Jocelyn Angloma.
