PAUL INCE is still hopeful of being fit for England's crucial World Cup clash with Italy, but must await tests on a thigh injury.

Ince was forced out of Inter Milan's trip to Perugia yesterday after pulling up in agony in training on Saturday.

England coach Glenn Hoddle was counting on Ince and David Batty to gain control of the vital midfield area against the Azzurri.
