VETERAN Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino gave new Irish manager Mick McCarthy a reminder of his scoring abilities with a hat trick last night in Olympic Marseille's 5-1 thrashing of Perpignan.

Cascarino, the league's top marksman last season with 35 goals, struck in the seventh, 61st and 85th minutes to bring his total to 17 goals in the present campaign. It was Marseille's seventh consecutive home win.
