Gordi goes for Gold Cup

Gordi has been given the go-ahead to run in next week's Ascot Gold Cup by Dermot Weld. The Curragh trainer has had 11 winners in the past at the Royal Ascot meeting and as well as Gordi, he intends to run Stage Affair in the Hardwicke Stakes.

"Both are intended runners and I'll make my mind up later in the week if we will have any more," Weld said yesterday.

John Oxx has already announced his Ascot plans with three of his horses travelling headed by Dabaya in the Ribblesdale Stakes. Aidan O'Brien's Irish 1,000 Guineas runner-up Kitza is also a possible for that Group Two contest.
