GLENANNE gained solace for two recent defeats, by Pembroke in the Irish Senior Cup and Monkstown in the Leinster Senior League, when they reached the Neville Cup hockey final by eliminating Three Rock Rovers in a shoot out (3-2) in a bracing semifinal at Grange Road last night.

It was 2-2 at the end of 70 minutes and a truncated extra time period. Devin Kehoe and Graham Shaw had given Glenanne a 2-0 lead but Three Rock, with Ger Butler and Niall Denham making their debuts, replied through William Haughton and Matheas Bechmann (penalty) before ultimately they were edged out on strokes.
