Galway's senior hurling and football panels have each been offered a £50,000 holiday fund bonus by Supermacs restaurant chain - should they win their All-Ireland competitions.

The incentive was announced by Pat McDonagh, managing director of Supermacs, before the county's team for Sunday's quarter-final was named.

"Through our association over the years I have seen a lot of dedication, effort and commitment put in, and holiday funding can be a big drain on county board resources, which is why we have put this novel idea forward," he said.

Although Supermacs sponsor only the senior hurling team, McDonagh said the chain would also be "delighted to make the same offer to the football team".

Frank Burke, the county chairman, expressed his thanks at the gesture.
