The qualifying round for the Father and Son Open Foursomes at Castle takes place next Saturday. Sponsored by Guardian Life, it is the oldest event of its type in the country and this year starts into its fifth decade.

The only three-time winners Paddy and Anthony Power (Stackstown) will be looking to extend their record and former Irish rugby captain Niall Hogan is another interesting entry with his father Brian.

There are a few spaces left on the timesheet with entry priced at £30. Enquiries to Castle at (01) 4904207.
