WICKLOW's hurlers prevailed by 0-9 to 1-3 against Westmeath in their Kehoe Cup semi final at Arklow. The home team were beaten by the midlanders in last year's final by a last minute goal. The Westmeath goal came on 60 minutes again, but it was too little, too late against a Wicklow team that had the upperhand for most of the hour and led by 0-5 to 0-2 at the interval. It was a doggedly fought game throughout with defences on both sides tending to dominate. Midway through the second half, Wicklow's Don Hyland and Westmeath's Anthony Weir were both sent off.
