Members of Kilternan golf club were busily checking the record books last week after 14 handicapper Des Doran shot five consecutive birdies in the club's weekly 12 holes semi-open fourball. Playing partners Frank Spain (Slieve Russell), Ray McCarthy (Kilternan) and Paul Dempsey (Roundwood) could only applaud the feat. The birdie blitz started on the par four seventh and ended on the 12th where he missed from six feet for another birdie.
