Derry 2-9 Armagh 0-6:Derry's strength, power and experience earned them a deserved victory in yesterday's Dr McKenna Cup Group A clash at Davitt Park, Lurgan.

A fourth-minute goal from Seán Leo McGoldrick gave them a perfect start before Stefan Forker missed a 16th-minute penalty for the home side.

Armagh played with renewed vigour in the second quarter and trailed by just two points, at 1-4 to 0-5, at the interval, Cathal O'Kane and newcomer Enda Lynn having already made an impact in the Derry attack.

With James Conway and Fergal Doherty on top at midfield, Derry knocked over four unanswered points before McGoldrick bagged his second goal after 68 minutes to seal the win.
