Davis looks for win and Classic revenge

ENGLAND’S BRIAN Davis has flown to Malaysia looking for revenge as well as his first PGA Tour win.

A year ago the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic was the first PGA Tour-sanctioned event in south east Asia and Davis thought his birdie-eagle-birdie finish might give him the title.

However, American Ben Crane eagled the par-four 15th and matched the Londoner’s closing birdie to grab a one-stroke victory worth a million dollars.

This week’s event back at The Mines in Kuala Lumpur comes after the end of the circuit’s official money list season – England’s Luke Donald won that last Sunday – but after six runners-up finishes Davis will take a win wherever and whenever he can get it.

Crane defends the trophy in a 48-man field that also contains major winners Vijay Singh, Angel Cabrera and Stewart Cink. A win for Australian Robert Allenby would be timely indeed after Fred Couples’ recent comments ahead of the Presidents Cup in Melbourne.
