CORK were forced to battle all the way by a gallant Meath side at Trim. The home side led 1-4 to 0-2 before Brian Corcoran's long range free wound up in the net to help the visitors to go in on level terms (1-4 each) at the break. Meath's goal had come through Mike Cole goal after four minutes.

Barry Egan grabbed Cork's second goal with 10 minutes to put them ahead 2-8 to 1-5.
