Cork turned on the style when beating Clare at Kilmallock. The winning margin would have been greater but for two saves by Clare goalkeeper David Garvey.

Cork started the better and went on to lead by 0-8 to 0-2 at half-time. However, a goal inside a minute on the resumption by Alan Cronin killed off any hope of a Clare comeback.
