COOKSTOWN FATHER Rocks of Tyrone overcame Spa of Killarney by two points in the All-Ireland intermediate decider at Croke Park yesterday.

Spa raced into an early lead before Cookstown got going and the Kerry side were one ahead at the interval.

With Cookstown wasting possession by racking up 12 wides extratime seemed inevitable. That was until Spa goalkeeper James Devine was adjudged to have fouled Cookstown midfielder Raymond Mulgrew just inside the square, for Barry Hughes to power home from the penalty.

With 10 minutes left to play Spa substitute Cormac Cronin put two free-kicks wide before county star Owen Mulligan sent over his first of the day in the last action of the game.

SCORERS

Cookstown: B Hughes 1-0; C Mullan 0-3; Brian Mulligan, C Eastwood (free), O Mulligan, J Gilmore 0-1 each. Spa: M O’Donoghue 0-3 (all frees); N O’Mahony 0-2; C Tobin, T Lynch, A Cahill 0-1 each.
