We know we haven't quite bonded with Stanley Collymore over the years but we thought his "I always find the people who criticise me are middle-aged, pot-bellied, really scruffy hacks" remark last week a bit personal. He was a bit rough, too, on your average English layabout: "I've always said I don't mind paying whatever tax as long as you can see there's genuine tangible benefits to people - not people who want to sit around doing bugger all, all day."

Charming. Pardon? What's Stanley doing these days? Mmm, bugger all, actually.
