Clongowes Wood were superior in all aspects of play as they stormed to a 37-0 win over Kilkenny College in the Leinster Schools Junior Cup at the Oak Park grounds in Carlow yesterday.

Clongowes full-back Conor Matthews accounted for 17 of his side's points as he contributed a try, two penalties and three conversions.

It was 13-0 at half-time, number eight Ronan Farrell having crossed for the opening try just before the break. Second-half tries followed from Matthews, captain Matthew Britton, flanker Robert O'Toole and second-row forward Billy Carlos.

Kilkenny defended gallantly throughout the game but were unable to counteract the class and superior strength of the Clongowes side, who now advance to meet either Terenure.
