CLONAKILTY celebrated their first appearance in the Munster club SF championship with a comprehensive win over Claughaun at Askeaton.

Although Claughaun stayed in touch early, daring to go ahead after 21 minutes with the help of a strong breeze, Clonakilty played by far the better brand of football throughout. Their centre forward, Padraig Griffin, scored three goals and by half time Clonakilty led 1-8 to 1-5.

When Terry Dillon had a second goal for Clonakilty two minutes into the second half, the game was over as a contest. The second half was a procession, thereafter.
