Defending champions Clann na nGael continued their dominance of Roscommon football when they picked up their 19th senior title in a poor final at Hyde Park. Michael Glavey's, contesting their first ever senior final, kept in touch throughout, mainly due to a marvellous Michael Shaughnessy goal just before half time which reduced Clann's lead to a single point (0-6 to 1-2).

The losers shot a total of 11 wides, however, and in the end had to give way to a vastly experienced side.
