LEINSTER Branch referee, Paul Hickey, had more than a passing interest in yesterday's rearranged Leinster Junior Cup tie played at Kilternan.

Hickey, acting as linesman, was on hand to raise the flag for Churchtown's first and only penalty, converted by none other than his son, Eoghan Hickey.

That came with just ten minutes to go and serum half Derek McNamara struck moments later with a try to put an end to a rather unremarkable game.

St Columba's acquitted themselves well given that last Thursday's game had to be postponed after a flu virus hit the team.
