UUJ 2-13 Donegal 1-12:An experimental Donegal were beaten by Jordanstown in the first round of the Dr McKenna Cup in Ballybofey last night.

Two goals midway through the second half from Colm Cavanagh were the crucial scores as the students took an eight-point lead.

Donegal led by 0-3 to 0-1 after six minutes but a purple patch by Jordanstown saw them go three points clear.

Donegal got back on level terms but further points from Ciarán Donnelly and Andy Moran gave the students a 0-9 to 0-6 lead at the break.

In the second half the two-goal blitz sealed the issue for Jordanstown.
