Down champions Burren overcame a strong challenge from their Cavan counterparts, Gowna, in this preliminary Ulster Club football championship game at Breffni Park yesterday.

Former Down star, John Treanor was the architect of Burren's victory, with six points, all from frees. Burren now meet reigning All-Ireland champions, Crossmaglen, in the quarter-final on Sunday next.
