English rugby union club Bristol could resolve their financial situation by the introduction of a major money backer before the start of the season.

"We have been in negotiations with an interested party and hopefully we will be able to make an announcement shortly," said Bristol's chief executive Jeff Lewis.

Former Wales and Lions scrum-half Robert Jones is the new captain of the club with Irish international out-half Paul Burke as vice-captain.
