MOTOR SPORT:Ross Brawn has revealed becoming Ferrari's new team principal is "an option".

Brawn, currently on a year's sabbatical after a decade as the team's technical director, is understood to be a strong contender for the position of team boss from next year.

The 52-year-old Briton was the mastermind behind Ferrari's dominance at the start of this century, helping Michael Schumacher win five successive Formula One titles.

However, Brawn has made it clear he is unwilling to resume his old role should he decide to work again.

"If I return, I will need a new challenge," he said.

He is also unlikely to join another team, adding: "Ferrari gave me so much that it would be only fair if I first spoke with them."
