Bradford yesterday decided to take legal action against Huddersfield defender Kevin Gray following his potentially career-ending tackle on Bradford's record signing Gordon Watson.

They are to instigate criminal proceedings against Gray, and to issue a writ for compensation against the defender and Huddersfield.

Bradford chairman Geoffrey Richmond, manager Chris Kamara and other club directors held a lengthy meeting with their legal advisers at the Pulse Stadium over the challenge which left striker Watson with a double-leg fracture.

The 25-year-old, a £550,000 buy from Southampton three weeks ago, suffered the injury after just four minutes of Saturday's 1-1 home draw.

Huddersfield will make their response to the allegations in a statement which will be released tomorrow.
