MANCHESTER City have signed Arsenal defender Eddie McGoldrick on a month's Joan and he could make his debut in today's crucial game against Birmingham at Maine Road.

McGoldrick, who has not played in the Arsenal first team for over a year, said he was delighted to get the call from City's caretaker boss Asa Hartford.

"It's a very big club Manchester City. It's a chance for me to get back into the limelight. What better way could you get than joining a club of this size.

"The club has taken a lot of unnecessary stick lately. We must now pull together and get the club back in the premiership.
