Belvedere College registered a comfortable victory over Templeogue in yesterday's first round of the Leinster schools' junior cup. Templeogue's efforts in the opening quarter were exemplary with some crushing tackles putting Belvedere on the back foot. And at that stage they deserved to score with Eoghan Fitzmaurice coming close with two penalty attempts.

However, Belvedere soon took advantage with their left wing, Brian O'Brien, going over at pace in the corner. And Brian McLoughlin's try under the post right on half-time, converted by full back Dave O'Reilly, well and truly knocked the wind out of Templeogue's sails.

Four minutes after the interval O'Brien struck for his second try with Tristan Fahy , Ger Doyle, Brian Merriman and Brian Carson all following suit; and O'Reilly added four more conversions to his first half effort.
