The Olympic champion and world 100 metres record holder was to have run in the 4x100 metres relay against a Santa Monica club team to be anchored by nine-time Olympic gold medallist Carl Lewis of the United States. Women's Olympic 100 metres champion Gail Devers has also been robbed of a good test in Linz with rising American star Marion Jones opting out of the meet.
