Roberto Baggio said, yesterday, he was virtually ready to quit former Italian champions AC Milan after falling out with new coach Arrigo Sacchi.

Baggio, who turned 30 yesterday, said he was unhappy with Sacchi's decision to leave him out of the side which beat Bologna 2-0 on Sunday.

"It's no fun being on the bench," said Baggio, who has spent much of a disappointing season on the first team fringes.

"It's a pity. I thought things would have turned out differently with his return," he said.
