The £6.7 million move of Colombian World Cup striker Faustino Asprilla to Newcastle should be completed in two or three days, the club's chief executive, Freddie Fletcher, said yesterday.

Fletcher said Newcastle had spoken to Parma's lawyer, Leandro Cantamessa, and sorted out misunderstandings between the two clubs over medical doubts about Asprilla.

"Signor Cantamessa said that he is hopeful that the deal will be settled within two or three days. I confirm this to be the case," Fletcher said.
