Athletics:Seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong has entered the Boston marathon on April 21st, organisers said yesterday.

Armstrong qualified for the 112th Boston marathon with a time of two hours 46 minutes 43 seconds in last year's New York City marathon. The Boston marathon's qualifying time for Armstrong's 35-to-39 age group is 3:15.00.

The race will be the American's third marathon. Following his retirement from professional cycling, Armstrong competed in the 2006 New York race and crossed the finish line in 2:59:36.

In Boston, cancer-survivor Armstrong will be raising money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which raises money for cancer prevention and care.
