BRITISH based First Choice Holidays revealed that accounting mistakes made in recent years have produced an unexpected £8.6 million sterling loss in the half year to April.

That meant the package tour operator's traditional first half loss deepened to £31.4 million, up from £23.4 million for the same period in 1996.
