RACING:LIGHTS OF Broadway provided a shock 200 to 1 winner for trainer Jo Hughes at Taunton yesterday.

The winner was ridden by Mark Grant and beat 50 to 1 shot Wishes And Stars into second, with 33 to 1 chance Fortuna Rose in third.

“I’m not a gambler, but I did think she was capable of running well and the better ground and the shorter trip have helped,” said Hughes.

Grant added: “They have always liked her at home and maybe she’s got a bit stronger now.”

The winner of the European Breeders’ Fund Mares’ National Hunt Novices’ Hurdle was the biggest priced since Mao Chinn Tire’s victory at Wetherby two years ago.

The British record is still held by Equinoctial who won at Kelso in 1990 at the bumper odds of 250 to 1.
