Sir, – While I haven’t had much success in getting a refund on cans and plastic bottles, which I previously recycled in my green bin, I have learnt the phrases, “sorting gate blocked”, “abnormal depositing detected” and “object not recognised, please remove object” in Irish, French, German and Spanish. So the deposit return scheme hasn’t been a complete waste of time. – Yours, etc,
