Zimbabwe's opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) said today it will go ahead with a march on January 23rd despite the police banning the protest.

The MDC said last week that during the protest against President Robert Mugabe's government, it would demonstrate against a crumbling economy and call for a new constitution that it said will guarantee elections scheduled for March are fair.
