A 17 year old youth who lost part of his ear when he was beaten by a gang at his home in Cabra, Dublin, was undergoing emergency surgery late last night. The teenager was beaten with a sledge hammer by five masked men who had held his sister at his house until he returned at about 11 p.m.
He suffered injuries to his shoulders and knees. Ambulance staff recovered part of his severed ear and he underwent surgery in the Mater hospital in Dublin. A Garda spokesman said he could not comment on whether the attack was related to anti drugs activities.
