A 14-year-old boy drowned yesterday evening in the River Liffey in Co Kildare.
Gardaí said the incident occurred near Clane at 6pm and was being treated as a tragic accident.
It is understood the teenager got into difficulty while playing in the river with friends.
His body was been removed to Naas hospital where a post mortem examination is to be carried out.
