Gardai in Caher, Co Tipperary, are investigating an incident in which a local youth was assaulted by a group of men. The youth was walking in the town yesterday evening when he was abducted by the men, who bundled him into their car and set off in the direction of Clogheen.
The assault was interrupted when a local man who was out walking his dog in nearby Wood Gate forest came across the men. The youth had been tied up and was partially clothed. A Garda spokesman said the group responsible for the attack had been identified and early arrests were expected.
