A 300-year-old "peace tree" donated by artist Yoko Ono will be unveiled in Dublin's Temple Bar later today.

The tree, to be planted on Cow's Lane, is intended to raise awareness of human rights abuses in Darfur. The ceremony by the former wife of murdered Beatle John Lennon will be part of a three-day event being held in Temple Bar.

More than 50 stallholders from 12 countries - including Morocco, Peru, Brazil and China - will be displaying their traditional crafts, gifts, clothing, jewellery and food during the event.

The Christmas Fete, which will feature an ethical and fair-trade Green Santa, runs until Sunday.
