Moscow - The Russian President, Mr Boris Yeltsin, yesterday again implied that he would not be a candidate for re-election in the year 2000, saying he hoped another person would take over the reins of power.

"I would like Russia in the year 2000 to begin work peacefully with a new president," the Kremlin quoted him as telling parliamentary leaders.
