A yachtsman was rescued by Baltimore lifeboat today after his boat started taking in water off the coast of Co Cork.

The 30-foot yacht was sailing from Cork to Baltimore when the man raised the alarm shortly after 4.00pm.

A spokesman for the RNLI Baltimore lifeboat said the man asked for help as a precaution and he was not in immediate danger as his boat’s bilge pump was working.

The RNLI Baltimore inshore lifeboat Bessiewas launched. It reached the yacht and towed it back to Baltimore Harbour by 6.00pm.
