The Valentia Coast Guard in Co Kerry were last night over-seeing the bringing ashore of a lone yacht found drifting 90 miles off the south west coast.

The yacht, believed to be around 35 ft  was spotted by a German research vessel yesterday afternoon.

It was floating upside down on the water. One theory being explored was the yacht may be The Welsh Dragonwhich left the USA for a transatlantic crossing last October but which never made it.  There were two people on board for that crossing.

The LE Emerwas tasked to tow the mystery vessel ashore yesterday evening.
