A dissident loyalist, Mr Billy Wright (36), is to contest seven charges arising from alleged incidents at Portadown and Lurgan on April 21st last year.

Mr Wright, who is unemployed, gave an address at Hartfield Avenue, Portadown.

The charges allege assaults on three policemen, disorderly behaviour, resisting a policeman, fighting and making an affray and wounding a man, all con the same occasion.

The hearing was adjourned to Craigavon Magistrates Court, on a date in November. On Wednesday evening Mr Wright addressed a 5,000 strong loyalist rally in Portadown. Recently he received a death threat from the Combined Loyalist Military Command.
