WELLINGTON - A New Zealand man said yesterday that he had beaten the world record by blowing a 35 metre (113ft) bubble. Alan McKay (34) said he beat the old record by 15.5 metres.

Mr McKay said conditions were perfect for bubble blowing. "It needs clean, cold, damp air. Heavy rain yesterday cleaned the air. I was lucky. The air was moving at just the right speed to carry this tubular bubble out for me, but not enough to disrupt it."
