MADRID - Workmen renovating a government building in central Madrid discovered a Goya painting which had been locked in a disused room for more than 100 years, regional President Alberto Ruiz Gallardon said yesterday.

Experts from Madrid's prestigious Prado museum said they were 90 per cent sure that the picture, which shows the Holy Trinity, the Virgin Mary and the souls of the damned, was by Francisco de Goya, born 250 years ago this year.
