The operators of Ireland’s most visited tourist attraction are preparing a contingency plan after Siptu notified them of plans to implement a work stoppage on June 8th next.

Siptu represents 17 of the 24 staff at the Cliffs of Moher visitor centre in Co Clare. Last night the union served notice of industrial action on the firm running the facility.

The union has accused the Cliffs of Moher Centre Ltd, owned by Clare County Council, of refusing to uphold a Labour Court recommendation to grant parity of pay for workers with other local authority workers.

The firm says to implement this would see costs soar when the business is still loss-making.
