The National Women's Council of Ireland has appointed Dr Katherine E. Zappone as its chief executive. Dr Zappone is a co founder and director of the Shanty Educational Project which has helped train more than 2,000 women from Tallaght and south Dublin in the past decade. She also lectures at Dublin City University.
