A woman has died in a road crash in Co Laois today.
The victim in her 80s was fatally injured after losing control of her car at Windygap Road, Stradbally, at 11.30am today.
The woman, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise, where she was pronounced dead.
A stretch of the road was closed for a time for examination but has now reopened. Gardaí are appealing for witness to the crash to contact them at Portlaoise Garda Station (057 86741000) the Garda confidential telephone line (1800 666 111) or any Garda station.
