The State car of the Minister for Defence, Mr Smith, was involved in a road accident in Dublin last night in which a female pedestrian was injured.

The woman was injured when trying to cross the Navan Road in Dublin. She was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown but was later discharged.

In a statement last night Mr Smith expressed his regret at the accident and said his driver immediately called the gardaí and an ambulance
