A Nigerian asylum-seeker charged with running a brothel in Dublin walked free yesterday after a court ruled a search warrant was invalid.

Ms Rita McLoughlin, nee Adhekwa, (32) of Ashington Heath, Navan Road, Dublin 7 was accused of running a brothel known as Sandra's Health Club at Lower Dorset Street on April 25th.

The court heard that Det Garda Tim Daly searched the premises on that date with a warrant issued by a District Court judge on a standard form.

However the defence solicitor, Mr Michael Staines, submitted that the warrant could not be issued to a Garda officer below the rank of inspector.

Judge Terence Finn dismissed the charge.
